Clearing

Dear Year 13 students, parents and carers,

With A-Level Results Day on the not-too-distant horizon, we are looking forward to seeing most students back in school to receive and celebrate their results. Please note that results are not posted online and students are required to make arrangements for collection if they are not able to attend school that day.

Students may find the linked page below useful in preparation for Results Day. I am also attaching some quick guides on preparing for Results Day, as well as a detailed step-by-step guide to the clearing process.

This additional toolkit is designed to support parents and carers in the clearing process: Clearing toolkit for parents | UCAS

Please note that students will not be able to view their applications in the lead up to the publication of results. On the 14th August, all application statuses will be updated, and students will be able to see whether they have gained a place at their chosen university. In some cases you may be offered an alternative course. In a small number of circumstances a university may still be waiting to make a final decision. Please note that UCAS will not publish your actual results.

On the day, students should contact universities directly should they wish to make an application through clearing. Following this, clearing applications can be made from 1pm through Clearing Plus on the UCAS hub. The below link will take you to a list of clearing phone numbers for each university.

For students who are still uncertain on their next steps, the National Careers Service will be delivering exam results support. The helpline will be open from Thursday 13 August until Saturday 29 August 2025. Young people or their parents/carers can contact the helpline on 0800 100 900 to speak to a professionally qualified careers adviser if they need advice on their next steps after receiving results.

For students following UCAS on TIkTok, they can join the TikTok Live in the week leading up to Results Day for real-time advice and support. The following video may also prove useful in preparation for the big day: Get ready for results day: What is Clearing and how does it work?

Looking forward to seeing you and celebrating your success in August!

Wishing you a great summer.
