Post-16 bursary

The Post-16 Bursary, officially known as the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund, is a financial support scheme in England designed to help students aged 16 to 19 stay in education or training by easing the cost of things like travel, meals, books, and equipment.

💰 Types of Bursaries

There are two main types:

  1. Vulnerable Student Bursary
  • Worth up to £1,200 per year
  • For students who are:
  • Receiving both Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Receiving Income Support or Universal Credit
  • In care or care leavers
  1. Discretionary Bursary
  • For students who need financial help but don’t qualify for the vulnerable group
  • The amount varies depending on your circumstances and your school or college’s policy
