Subject Blocks

Each year we decide on the blocks for our subjects, taking two key factors into consideration. Firstly, we look at the preferences of our students and trends over the past few years. This gives us a good idea of what students want to study and which potential subject combinations are popular. Secondly, we look at subject combinations suited to higher education and career entry. For example, Biology and Chemistry are often blocked separately to allow for medicine pathway, History and English are blocked separately to allow for law pathways, and Psychology and Sociology are blocked separately to allow for Social Work pathways. These are just some examples of the work that goes in to ensure that our programmes can help students achieve, not just in the Sixth Form, but in the world beyond St Alban's.
